Zambia Volunteering 2016
Habitat for Humanity Ireland and EWB – Ireland
Volunteer Placements 2016
Habitat for Humanity Ireland is a not-for-profit housing organisation. We work in partnership with and on behalf of Habitat for Humanity International. Our mission is simple: we believe in a world where everyone has a decent place to live. To date, Habitat for Humanity has given 6.8 million families worldwide a ‘hand-up, not a hand-out’ of poverty housing.
Habitat Ireland works closely with Habitat partners in Zambia to send volunteers to Ndola and Lusaka to build homes and spread hope within the communities there. Their volunteers build with the future homeowners and have the opportunity to not only build a home, but to build a close relationship with the beneficiary family.
This year Engineers Without Borders-Ireland has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Ireland in recruiting volunteers to build overseas on our Zambian projects next June 2016!
While building in Zambia, volunteers are immersed into the culture and community from Day 1. Volunteers stay in basic community accommodation and experience the living conditions of most members of the community. They will eat local food and partake in some traditional activities and some customs.
Volunteers do not require building skills as training is provided.
